Rose Crescent, a quaint street in the middle of historic Cambridge has been nominated for a national award for the best shopping place for fashion in the UK. The internet giant Google have launched `The Google Street View Awards`as a celebration of the best loved streets in Britain. Glamour magazine editor Jo Elvin, TV personality and retailer Brix Smith, Jeff Banks and TV presenter Julia Bradbury will be members of the judging panel.
This historic street first became a parade of shops in the 1820`s before that it was the courtyard of a city pub The Rose Tavern, where diarist and columnist Samuel Pepys used to stay. Generations of change have enhanced this crescent to become the gem it is today.
This winding street is home to a number of select shops, Sandra Kent, stocking collections from Escada, Armarni Collezioni and Basler. The bespoke suit designer and maker Tailor and Cutter, whom you would expect to see along Saville row. Sitting opposite are Cellini, one of the largest exclusive independent Jewellers outside Bond Street. Also the winner of The Sunday Times customer champion awards for `Small Business Service of the Year`. Marrs the Luxury Leather shop, French Connection, Jack Wills, Molton brown, and l`occitaine are to name just a few others.

Decisions, what to drop the hints for this year. Chocs? Flowers? Champagne? or Diamonds? It’s a tough choice. Valentine’s Day is certainly a day we love to spoil our nearest and dearest. Historians trace the origins of this special day for sweethearts back to the time of the Roman Empire where February the 14th was set aside to remember the martyr, St Valentine.
This special day is also one of the top days for marriage proposals. A romantic serenade with a classical symphony or even a bit of heavy metal might create your perfect setting. Anything goes, even a quirky pair of diamond rings, pictured opposite.
But if a more traditional design is the way for you to pop the big question a simple Marquise solitaire might just be the inspiration you need. No need to worry about sizing, our hourly alteration service will take care of it for you. Alternatively, to avoid proposal disaster, present a collection of custom ideas, fresh from our design department, presented in a silk pouch to ensure your ideas are as perfect as they are wrapped.
Happy Valentine’s day all, and remember girls, although it`s not a leap year you can still pop the big question yourselves!

A new year, a new decade. Out with the old, in with the new and all that, unless of course a glamorous gift from us has recently been pushed in your direction. (You might want to hang onto that.) Time for change and a fresh start, doing all those things you didn`t get round to in 2009, and the all important bit, action. Perhaps a full on detox or a spiritual retreat might be top on your list this New Year. Personally, I think adding a bit of style and sparkle to the winter wardrobe never fails to lift the spirits from the post party slump.
New trends for 2010 focus on the marriage of opposites, structured organic concepts with texture feature heavily. Another predicted trend on the catwalk will be more masculine overtones to women’s fashion and jewellery this year. References to Boadicea, ethnic cultures and the use of rustic materials are one of the key looks. A strong focus on heavily beaded multi rows with wood and precious metal, create a striking cultural combination.
New collections of hand selected beads in a diverse spectrum of colours will be in stock from the late spring onwards to feed your passion if the warrior princess looks takes your fancy. If you have your own ideas, but can`t find what you want, fear not, our bespoke services can help turn them into reality.
Alternately you may embrace resurgence of 1920`s glamour, another hottie to look out for this year. Statement pieces like yellow and black diamond bomb rings, with emphasis on the Deco revival will nestle in our showcases. Large multi rows of pearls are a firm favourite, worn by Coco Chanel, icon of the modernist fashion style, still bear the definitive hallmark of ultimate sophistication. Rows of Indonesian Gold, Chocolate Tahitian and Large white South Sea Pearls from Australia will give you something to look out for in our collections. Diamond clasps and drops are available to complement these natural beauties, if the mood for just that little bit more takes you.
So, a Happy New year from all at Cellini, and a small detox tip from me, give up the coffee, keep the pearls.
