The vibrant Ruby, the colour of Passion, is the Birthstone for those born in July, appropriately symbolising Love, Enthusiasm, and Strength. Ruby also celebrates the fortieth wedding anniversary. Prized by the Romans, the name derives from the Latin (Ruber) red.
Mentioned in ancient documents, the ruby has one of the most exotic and turbulent histories. In 1885 the British "annexed" the famous Burmese Mogok Stone Tract nestling in a mountainous bowl 4000 feet above sea level, so beginning the British love affair with the brilliant red gem.
Cellini has always specialised in very fine quality rubies shipped from Burma, Cambodia, and Thailand. Colours vary, with many Burmese rubies having a strong pink tint, those from Cambodia tending towards the bright red, and those from Thailand frequently being a darker wine colour.
